Scope
The AI Research & Development Cell (AIRDC) serves as a university-wide platform for the research, development, application, and responsible adoption of Artificial Intelligence and emerging digital technologies across academic, research, administrative, and societal domains. Its scope encompasses the complete innovation cycle—from identifying real-world problems and research opportunities to ideation, technology development, prototyping, validation, deployment, knowledge dissemination, and impact creation.
AIRDC facilitates the integration of AI with diverse disciplines, including science, engineering, healthcare, agriculture, law, management, commerce, humanities, and social sciences, thereby promoting interdisciplinary and application-oriented innovation. The Cell supports AI-enabled research, intelligent digital solutions, faculty and student capacity building, research publication and project development, industry and institutional collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship, intellectual property creation, and technology-enabled institutional transformation. It also promotes the ethical, responsible, transparent, and purposeful use of AI in teaching, learning, research, administration, and professional practice.
Objectives
Promote AI-centric and AI-assisted research across disciplines and facilitate interdisciplinary research initiatives.
Identify emerging AI technologies, research trends, and application areas, and translate relevant developments into academic and institutional opportunities.
Develop and deploy AI-powered tools, platforms, and prototypes addressing identified academic, administrative, research, industry, and societal challenges.
Enable faculty and students to acquire practical AI competencies through structured training, workshops, bootcamps, demonstrations, hackathons, mentoring, and hands-on projects.
Support faculty in AI-assisted research workflows, including research ideation, literature exploration, data analysis, research design, academic writing, manuscript improvement, and other appropriate research-support activities while maintaining research integrity.
Facilitate AI-enabled project development and external funding opportunities by supporting problem identification, proposal development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technology-oriented project formulation.
Encourage student innovation and experimentation through AI projects, challenges, hackathons, competitions, prototype development, and mentorship.
Create interdisciplinary AI research clusters that connect expertise across science, technology, healthcare, agriculture, law, management, the humanities, and other academic domains.
Strengthen collaboration with industry, research institutions, technology organizations, and external experts to facilitate knowledge exchange, joint research, technology development, training, and application-oriented innovation.
Promote intellectual property generation and technology commercialization by identifying, protecting, incubating, and developing promising AI innovations.
Support entrepreneurship and startup-oriented innovation by helping transform viable AI prototypes and research outcomes into products, services, or technology ventures.
Develop AI-enabled institutional solutions for academic, research, administrative, and student-support requirements.
Establish mechanisms to evaluate, validate, and improve AI solutions before institutional or broader deployment.
Promote responsible and ethical AI practices, including appropriate human oversight, transparency, data responsibility, academic integrity, and awareness of AI systems' limitations and risks.
Maintain a knowledge ecosystem for AI through repositories, resource centers, best-practice frameworks, technology showcases, and dissemination of relevant developments.
Measure the impact of AI initiatives through defined outcomes such as research outputs, prototypes, intellectual property, funded projects, collaborations, trained stakeholders, deployed solutions, and measurable institutional improvements.
