Mr. Phalguni Mookhopadhayay
Chancellor, Brainware University
A self-taught digital artist, versatile photographer, weekend singer and documentary filmmaker, Phalguni Mookhopadhayay is the founder-chancellor of Brainware University, founder-chairman and managing director of Brainware Consultancy Private Limited and Webguru Infosystems Private Limited.
Born on February 28, 1955 at Uttarpara, Hooghly in West Bengal, he did his schooling at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur and graduated with honours in Economics from St Xavier's College, Kolkata.
He completed his masters in Economics from Calcutta University and MBA from IISWBM, before joining Hindustan Lever as a management trainee. He worked as a market planner for the ABP group for nearly a decade before striking out on his own and blazing a trail with Brainware, where he is a hands-on chancellor.
Prof. Sankar Gangopadhyay
Vice-Chancellor (Acting) and Chief Advisor Research, Brainware University
"Professor (Dr.) Sankar Gangopadhyay, Ph. D. from the University of Calcutta, is presently the Vice-Chancellor (Acting) and Chief Advisor Reserach of Brainware University. He joined Brainware Group of Institutions Sabita Devi Education Trust in the Year 2012. Before this, he was associated with the University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University, Vidyasagar University and BESU (Presently known as IIEST) in connection with teaching and research for a period of nearly thirty-seven years. He has a number of publications in peer reviewed International Journals, as well as in international and national conference proceedings. He has also contributed research work in the form of book chapters published by eminent publishers. Till date, fourteen students have been awarded Ph.D. Degree under his supervision. He was a member of Doctoral Oral Defence Committee, Department of Electrical Engineering at Yuan Ze university, Taiwan from August 1, 2018 to July 31, 2019. He is the reviewer of research papers of many international journals of repute. His research investigation comprises the use of optical fiber technology in the field of communication and various kinds of devices."
Dr. Swaraj Kumar Sarkar
Registrar (Acting), Controller of Examinations, Brainware University
Dr. Swaraj Kumar Sarkar joined Brainware University on 06/07/2022 as Controller of Examinations. He currently holds the additional charge of Registrar (Acting) since December 22, 2025. He completed his Ph.D. in the field of Zoology from Vidyasagar University in the 2013. His area of research interest is anatomy and ultrastructure of fish olfactory system under high resolution electron microscopes. He published more than 25 research articles in national and international journals. He is a member of Microscopical Society of America, USA and European Chemoreception Research Organization (ECRO). In the year 2012, he was awarded with the very prestigious ‘Sudeb Bhusan Young Scientist Award’ from Zoological Society of Calcutta, University of Calcutta for his contribution in the field of neurogenesis of olfactory sensory neuron. Apart from his academic and teaching experiences, he served as Assistant Controller of Examinations, Directorate of Distance Education, Vidyasagar University. He also served as a Member (Working Committee) of UGC-NSQF Programme, National Academic Depository (NAD)/ Digi-Locker Committee of Vidyasagar University. Dr. Sarkar acted as external member of various confidential committee of other state aided university of West Bengal. On the basis of his administrative experiences, he published articles on emerging area of ICT based examination reforms like implementation of Blooms Taxonomy, digital evaluation system, etc. His vision is to conduct the examinations with utmost precision and fairness as well as publish the results within minimum time frame. He is committed to enhance transparency, objectivity and efficiency in academic administration, particularly concerning assessments at Brainware University.
Prof. Anant Kumar Srivastava
Dean Academics, Brainware University
Dr. Anant Kumar Srivastava joined Brainware University on April 1, 2023, and currently serves as professor and Dean of Academics. With over 24 years of experience in academic administration and institutional development, he has held prestigious roles such as member of the Governing Board, Principal, Director and Dean at esteemed institutions in Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region (NCR). Dr. Anant also serves as a special invitee on the Board of Studies at Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow.
Awarded a Ph.D. in management from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra Ranchi, in 2011, Dr. Anant specialises in operations, digital transformation and information system management. He is notably recognised for coining the term "Fearonomics", which is included in the American Association for the Advancement of Science database. He has authored two books and developed a range of study materials and courses. His contributions extend to accreditation, training, and industry collaboration. He excels in curriculum design and learning needs assessment and is well-versed in instructional design models, including ADDIE, Merrill’s Principles, Bloom’s Taxonomy and Gagne’s learning theory.
Prof. C. Rajesh
Dean School of Biotechnology & Biosciences,
Brainware University
Dr. C. Rajesh is currently the Professor and Dean, School of Biotechnology and Biosciences and Director, Doctoral Programme at Brainware University, Barasat, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. A Post-Graduate M.Sc in Biotechnology from Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Rajesh was a CSIR-UGC NET scholar awarded Ph.D. Degree in Biochemistry from University of Delhi. He started his career in the United States of America as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Medical University of Ohio, Toledo, OH and University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC for over seven years. Dr. Rajesh returned back to India as a Senior Scientist, heading the R &D division of SciGenom Labs Pvt Ltd., Kochi, Kerala, India. After three years in industry he re-joined academics and research at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University (SGGSWU), Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, India as an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Biotechnology. He served at SGGSWU for 10 years and was promoted to Professor and Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology and Faculty of Medical Sciences. He also served as Professor and Vice Principal, School of Bioengineering Sciences and Research, MIT-ADT University, Pune, Maharashtra, India in 2023 for a short period. He has over 25 Years of Experience in the field of Biotechnology. His Area of Expertise includes: Cancer Biology, Mammalian Molecular Genetics, Nanobiotechnology, Genomics and Proteomics. He has authored over 40 publications cited more than 650 times in peer-reviewed and indexed journals as well as books. He has guided and continues to guide several PhD Scholars as well as actively teach and drive UG-PG student projects.
Prof. Sailesswar Ghosh
HOD & Dean- School of Management & Commerce, Brainware University
Dr. Saileswar Ghosh is a distinguished academician and management professional with over 25 years of rich teaching experience complemented by valuable industry exposure. He holds a Ph.D. along with postgraduate qualifications in Human Resource Management and International Business, and a Diploma in Training & Development.
His core research areas include Human Resource Practices, Organisational Behaviour, Leadership, Organisational Culture, Quality of Work Life, and Green HRM. He has published research papers in reputed national and international journals, including Scopus-indexed publications, contributing to areas such as employee well-being, organisational performance, and leadership effectiveness.
Dr. Ghosh joined Brainware University on 3 rd April 2021 and serves as Professor and Head of the Department. He has guided doctoral scholars and has held key academic and administrative roles such as Head of Department, Board of Studies Chairman, Academic Council Member, and Journal Editor.
His teaching and research philosophy focuses on developing industry-ready management professionals through a blend of conceptual learning, research orientation, and practical application.
Prof. Prasenjit Mondal
HOD & Dean- School of Medical & Allied Health Sciences, Brainware University
Prof. (Dr) Prasenjit Mondal, currently serving as the Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Dean of the School of Medical and Allied Health Science at Brainware University, Barasat, possesses over 19 years of academic and research experience in the field of Pharmaceutical Technology. He joined the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Brainware University, in January 2022.
Over the years, he has made remarkable contributions to Pharmaceutical research, authoring more than 87 publications in reputed indexed national and international journals. Published five books and holds five Indian patents to his credit. Dr. Mondal is a distinguished reviewer and editorial board member of several SCI and SCOPUS-indexed journals. His core expertise lies in the development and validation of novel analytical techniques, synthesis, molecular docking and Phytochemistry. In 2021, he was honoured with the Best Researcher Award by the International Scientist Awards on Engineering, Science, and Medicine (ISAG).
Prof. Anup Kr. Maiti
Dean of Students’ Welfare, Brainware University
Professor (Dr.) Anup Kr. Maiti, Ph.D. in Physics from Vidyasagar University, is presently serving as the Dean of Students’ Welfare at Brainware University. With nearly two decades of teaching experience in engineering colleges, he has contributed significantly to the academic growth. He joined SDET Brainware Group of Institutions in 2011 and served as Head of the Department of Physics from 2012 to 2016. In 2016, he became Head of the Department of Electronics at Brainware University, and since 2018, he has been continuing as the Dean of Students’ Welfare.
Dr. Maiti’s primary research interests lie in Optoelectronics, with extensive work in fibre and integrated optics, both linear and nonlinear. Along with his academic pursuits, he plays a pivotal role in ensuring the holistic well-being of students. As Dean, he oversees hostels, scholarships, healthcare, and counselling services, while promoting co-curricular and extracurricular activities that foster leadership, cultural exchange, and skill development. He also supervises grievance redressal, discipline, and welfare initiatives, creating a safe and ambient campus environment.
Through his academic expertise and student-centric approach, Dr. Maiti has been instrumental in adding knowledge, values and ethics to the student community of Brainware University.
MR. Abir Saha
Finance Officer, Brainware University
Mr. Abir Saha is a seasoned finance professional with more than 18 years of experience in auditing and accounting. He is currently serving as the Finance Officer at Brainware University. Earlier, he has worked as the Senior Manager in the Education Division of Brainware Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. in Kolkata, West Bengal. He has been associated with this organisation since 2004. With a robust background in overseeing financial operations and ensuring compliance with organisational policies, his expertise spans across various critical functions.
In his role, Abir manages a diverse portfolio of responsibilities, including the meticulous handling of franchisee accounts, invoicing, and settlement of franchisee shares. He is instrumental in formulating comprehensive budgets for the organisation, playing a pivotal role in financial planning and control. Furthermore, Abir conducts thorough pre-audits of purchase orders and vendor bills, ensuring adherence to established protocols and financial policies.
His proficiency extends to conducting salary audits and managing the full and final settlement processes for departing staff members, thereby maintaining transparency and efficiency in payroll operations. Abir is recognised for his adeptness in assessing the financial health of the company in a timely manner and presenting detailed audit reports to the management on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Moreover, Abir actively contributes to the strategic direction of the company by overseeing various projects and providing comprehensive status reports. He collaborates closely with the ERP team, contributing significantly to the implementation of ERP packages across different departments of the organisation.
Abir Saha's career is marked by his dedication towards enhancing organisational growth through meticulous financial oversight, strategic project management, and effective implementation of audit and accounting practices. His expertise in project evaluation, monitoring, budgeting, costing, financial reporting and assurance has been integral to the continuous growth and success of Brainware Group of Institutions and eventually Brainware University. Mr. Abir Saha joined Brainware University since its inception as Finance Officer. He completed MBA in Finance from “West Bengal University of Technology” also completed M.Com from Calcutta University.
