Chancellor, Brainware University
A self-taught digital artist, versatile photographer, weekend singer and documentary filmmaker, Phalguni Mookhopadhayay is the founder-chancellor of Brainware University, founder-chairman and managing director of Brainware Consultancy Private Limited and Webguru Infosystems Private Limited.
Born on February 28, 1955 at Uttarpara, Hooghly in West Bengal, he did his schooling at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur and graduated with honours in Economics from St Xavier's College, Kolkata.
He completed his masters in Economics from Calcutta University and MBA from IISWBM, before joining Hindustan Lever as a management trainee. He worked as a market planner for the ABP group for nearly a decade before striking out on his own and blazing a trail with Brainware, where he is a hands-on chancellor.

Pro Vice Chancellor - Finance
As a finance professional, have expertise of handling finance & accounts related activities and excelled as an academic administrator. In the initial years, served under West Bengal Audit & Accounts Services for few years, then switched to the University system. Served as an academic administrator in two Universities in West Bengal for almost thirty years, heading the Finance division, including Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
During the journey, obtained training & guidance through various specific progammes & courses, organized by Ed CIL, NIFM, NIEPA, NPIU etc. Attended and participated in few dozens of academic and administrative seminar and workshops during last thirty years. Acted as 'Resource person' in around one hundred Faculty Development Program/ Orientation Program/Refresher courses in many Universities in West Bengal, to train colleges & university teachers.
Executed the financial responsibilities and requirements of many high value projects successfully in Jadavpur University, including those funded by UGC, DST, AICTE and World bank, sanctioned through MHRD. As the head of finance in the university system for almost thirty years, the attributes developed for proper functioning under finance discipline include, financial management skills, Communication skills, Leadership, Analytical skills, technical expertise, Collaboration and teamwork, Risk management, Adaptability and flexibility, Integrity and transparency in work process of finance in the higher education system.
After superannuation in Jadavpur University in 2023, joined Brainware University as Pro-Vice Chancellor-Finance in January this year.
Registrar, Brainware University
Mahua Pal, Registrar of Brainware University, a seasoned professional with over 29 years of comprehensive experience in Operations Management, Quality Management, HR, and Administration within the field of educational organizations. Demonstrating strong administrative and managerial capabilities, Mahua has excelled in planning and implementing new initiatives, contributing significantly to the growth of her organization. With a pleasing disposition, commitment, and flexibility, she has led teams through both prosperous and challenging times, gaining grounded insights into the educational industry.
In her current role as the Registrar at Brainware University, Mahua plays a pivotal role in maintaining the general discipline of the institution, representing the university in legal proceedings, overseeing the record-keeping of academic achievements, and liaising with government bodies.
Throughout her career, Mahua has consistently achieved subsequent promotions, highlighting her dedication and contribution to the organization. Her experience also extends to managing and launching new degree programmes, recruitment processes, and developing teaching models. With a background in MBA (HR) and B.Sc. (Hons), Mahua Pal is a multifaceted professional who thrives on challenges and looks forward to engaging with industry thought leaders to further enrich her insights and knowledge in the educational sector.
Controller of Examinations
Dr. Swaraj Kumar Sarkar joined Brainware University on 06/07/2024 as Controller of Examinations. He completed his Ph.D. in the field of Zoology from Vidyasagar University in the 2013. His area of research interest is anatomy and ultrastructure of fish olfactory system under high resolution electron microscopes. He published more than 25 research articles in national and international journals. He is a member of Microscopical Society of America, USA and European Chemoreception Research Organization (ECRO). In the year 2012, he was awarded with the very prestigious ‘Sudeb Bhusan Young Scientist Award’ from Zoological Society of Calcutta, University of Calcutta for his contribution in the field of neurogenesis of olfactory sensory neuron. Apart from his academic and teaching experiences, he served as Assistant Controller of Examinations, Directorate of Distance Education, Vidyasagar University. He also served as a Member (Working Committee) of UGC-NSQF Programme, National Academic Depository (NAD)/ Digi-Locker Committee of Vidyasagar University. Dr. Sarkar acted as external member of various confidential committee of other state aided university of West Bengal. On the basis of his administrative experiences, he published articles on emerging area of ICT based examination reforms like implementation of Blooms Taxonomy, digital evaluation system, etc. His vision is to conduct the examinations with utmost precision and fairness as well as publish the results within minimum time frame. He is committed to enhance transparency, objectivity and efficiency in academic administration, particularly concerning assessments at Brainware University.
