Re-discovering genius

To celebrate the Birth Centenary of SATYAJIT RAY, Central Libraries of Brainware University and Brainware Group of Institutions-SDET jointly organized a programme titled "অচেনা সত্যজিৎ : গ্রন্থাগারিকের মননে" on May 3, 2021 from 4:30 PM. Dr. Shyam Sundar Kundu(Librarian, Govt. College of Art and Craft, Calcutta) was the key speaker of this event.

Anandita Das (Assistant Registrar, Brainware University) initiated the discussion by introducing the speaker. The speaker’s experience and work on Satyajit Ray and library helped the audience to comprehend the unknown aspects of Satyajit Ray’s life and we were glad to learn that his book “অচেনা সত্যজিৎ” is set to be published soon.

The speaker informed the audience about several stories like “Dhappa” where Satyajit Ray talked about libraries and librarians. He mentioned how his focus gradually shifted from the short stories written by Ray to the Feluda series. Kundu cited the example of “ Ambar Sen Antordhan Rahasya” where books and writings are widely discussed. He also mentioned “Royal Bengal Rahasya” where a mystery is solved through a riddle.

This event captured the brilliance of the maestro and helped us understand how effortlessly he touched upon all aspects of human life in his art and literature. “ I want to give the right exposure and knowledge to the future librarians who want to research the connection between the library and Satyajit Ray”. The speaker ended the event with a soulful chanting.

“ॐ सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः। सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः। सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु। मा कश्चित् दुःख भाग्भवेत्॥ ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्ति”
