On 13th October, to celebrate 'World Sight Day', the Department of Allied Health Sciences organised a seminar on the theme 'Gift Your Eyes for Better Sight'. The main objective of this event was to generate awareness among the students on organ donation so that Brainware students can lead from the front and educate the common people to pledge their eyes.

"A common man, for instance, a rickshaw-puller is aware of the fact that a discrepancy in the blood pressure level can cause health problems for them. However, they are totally ignorant of the fact that eye-related issues can also cause health problems," said Dr. Amitava Biswas, Director, Sunetra Family Eye Care Centre who was present as one of the guest speakers at the event. While interacting with the audience, Dr. Biswas pointed out the lack of access to eyecare worldwide.

Dr. Gopeswar Mukherjee, Dean, Department of Allied Health Sciences highlighted the importance of organ donation at the event. Ms. Neena Biswas, HOD Optometry, Sunetra Family Eye Care Centre was also a speaker at the event. She highlighted the career options in Optometry that the students can pursue. Mary Smitha Wilson, Education and Professional Service Manager, South Zone, Essilor India was also a speaker at the session who joined online.

A poster competition also took place where the students demonstrated their take on eye-related issues and exhibited them in front of the guest speakers.
