From 'Pather Panchali' to 'Sahaj Paather Goppo': Celebrating the birth anniversary of Bibhutibhusan Bandopadyay


In 1955, Satyajit Ray adapted Bibhutibhusan Bandopadyay's 'Pather Panchali' for screen and it scripted history. On 15th September 2022, to celebrate the birth anniversary of this great Bengali writer who had a very close association with Nature, the Department of English and Literary Studies organised a screening of 'Sohoj Paather Goppo'.

The film 'Sohoj Paather Goppo' is an adaptation of 'Taal Nabami', a story by Bandyopadhyay. The film incited interest among the students regarding the works of this great Bengali writer who inspired Satyajit Ray to make his timeless masterpiece 'Pather Panchali'.

The screening film offered a new perspective to the students to look into the creations of this famous author at present time.
