Abanindranath Tagore, one of the pioneers of Indian art, was born on August 7, 1871. To commemorate the birth anniversary of this versatile artist, the Department of English and Literary Studies in collaboration with the Department of Multimedia organised an 'Illustration Competition' on 8th August.

The event was a great opportunity for the students to give shape to their imagination and a refreshing break from their academic curriculum. Furthermore, the competition provided ample scope to those who wished to pursue illustration as a career. Each illustration consisted of a short description on the theme of the painting.

The program on 8th August started with the faculty members paying tribute in front of a picture of Abanindranath Tagore following which the illustrations of the students were exhibited digitally. The first, second and third illustrations will receive awards after the decision. All the students will be awarded participation certificates.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Poulomi Mitra, Associate Professor and HO, Department of English and Literary Studies. About 57 students enrolled for this illustration competition. The faculty members from the departments of English and Multimedia were present at the program.
