Value-added course on 'Vision Therapy' for Optometry students at Sunetra Family Eye Care

In an attempt to provide clinical exposure to the Bachelor of optometry students, the Department of Allied Health Sciences conducted a 7-day value-added course (VAC) on 'Vision Therapy' at Sunetra Family Eye Care from July 21 to 27, 2022. The sessions started at 11 a.m and continued till 4 p.m. Neena Biswas, HOD, Optometry, Sunetra Family Eye Care, conducted the sessions.

'Vision Therapy' is a term often used by Optometrists that refers to the development of visual skills and abilities for a better visual comfort. At this VAC, the students were shown various video and PowerPoint presentations to make them understand the concept of Binocular Single Vision, Grades of binocular vision, Accommodation etc. The benefits and goals of Vision Therapy were also discussed with the students.

The students also got the opportunity for hands-on training with various instruments like accommodative flippers, vergence flippers, maddox rod, brock string, life saver card and MIM card.

Ms. Sayani Pal Choudhury, Assistant Professor, Department of Allied Health Sciences was the coordinator for the course. 26 students participated in this value-added course.
