Learning to encode a story into a serial with Sromona Ghosh

In a workshop held by the department of Media Science and Journalism on December 10, Sromona Ghosh (Senior Producer, Zee Bangla) presented an overview of the world of teleseries to aspiring storytellers.

She outlined how television series differ from other media content, especially when it comes to writing, and guided the students on the correct way of developing a television series, by amalgamating all the qualities of a feature film in a single episode. She further stressed upon how Indian serials have stayed true to their core, despite the different modes of delivery, which makes it imperative for the makers to understand how to prevent the audiences from flipping channels. The workshop was a success owing to a slew of curious questions, coupled with informative discussions.
