Nutrition Programme at Institute of Nursing

β€œIt is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.” – Mahatma Gandhi

At the 'Nutrition Programme' on June 22, 2023, the Nursing students displayed a wide range of balanced diets suitable for the people. The importance of a balanced diet cannot be emphasised enough for a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle can be attained by maintaining a balanced diet and keeping into consideration to meet all the essential nutrients required by the body.

The students were distributed among various group and each of them focused on the following diets:

1) DASH diet is a healthy eating plan to lower blood pressure. It consists of vegetables, fruits and whole grains.
2) Low calorie Diet is a structured eating plan that restricts daily caloric intake, particularly for weight loss.
3) Renal diet keeps up the kidney health. Reducing salt/sodium is an important tool in controlling your kidney disease.
4) Iron rich diet consists of meats and eggs, seafood and vegetables like spinach, sweet potatoes, peas, broccoli, string beans etc. Food has two types of iron β€” heme (meat) and non-heme iron (vegetables). When you eat heme iron with foods higher in non-heme iron, the iron will be more completely absorbed by your body.

The insightful and informative display by the Institute of Nursing of Brainware University was organised to spread awarenss among people regarding the importance of a balanced diet.

Food must provide solace to the taste buds but you must remember 'Eat Better, Live Better'!
