'Our Nurses, Our Future': Taking the Nightingale Pledge on International Nurses Day

Nightingale Pledge on International Nurses Day

You have undoubtedly heard of the Hippocratic oath!

What is the Nightingale Pledge?

Well, it is a modified version of the Hippocratic oath specifically for nurses. It was created by nursing pioneer Lystra Gretter and a Committee for the Farrand Training School for Nurses in Detroit in 1893.

On International Nurses Day, the oath-taking ceremony for the nurses took place at the Institute of Nursing of Brainware University.

Incidentally, International Nurses Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.

Following the oath-taking, the Nursing students organized a spectacular cultural program. A series of short plays highlighted the contribution of nurses in the healthcare sector.
