To imbibe humanitarian values among students, a Legal Aid Camp was organized and conducted by the faculty and students of the Department of Law, Brainware University at Kotra Gram Panchayat, Bamungachi, 24Parganah(North) on September 19, 2021, under the supervision of Kaushik Banerjee,Purbita Das and Krishna Ghosh.

Some legal issues crucial to the people of that area were discussed and suggestions were provided by the students. The students worked in teams to understand the problems faced by the people and provided proper legal help to them.It enriched students’ understanding of the law and its practice. In this regard, Kaushik Banerjee rightly said, “ Legal aid means providing an arrangement in the society so that justice becomes easily accessible and is not out of reach for those who are in dire need of it”

In this workshop, the teams were dealing with several issues like property-related issues, extramarital affairs, domestic violence, and land-related problems. Shramana Sengupta, a student of BBA LLB, 5th semester shared “ this camp appeared as a golden opportunity to utilize our theoretical knowledge and be in person with real-life situations.”

Legal aid should be available to the poor and illiterate, who don’t have access to courts. We shall organize more such events for students in the future so that they can contribute towards community while perfecting their professional journey.” added Purbita Das.
