Possibilities of Joint Library Operation in West Bengal: A critical study among South Bengal districts of West Bengal, India

The researcher explores the potential of public-academic library partnerships in the context of West Bengal, India, focusing particularly on the southern districts. For completing study, researcher used 4 district public Libraries and 4 Universities Libraries. Researcher used physical visit and interviewing to the library professionals to draw a clear picture about this concept. Libraries serve as vital pillars of knowledge dissemination and community engagement, yet they often face challenges such as limited resources and outdated infrastructure. By forging collaborations between public and academic libraries, we can leverage their respective strengths to create synergistic relationships that benefit the entire community. This paper critically examines the possibilities and benefits of such partnerships, including expanded access to resources, knowledge exchange, joint programming, and research initiatives. Despite institutional barriers and logistical challenges, effective partnerships have the potential to enrich educational development, promote lifelong learning, and contribute to the cultural and intellectual vibrancy of the region.
