The workshop on Basic Bioinformatics was organized to provide students with foundational
knowledge and practical exposure to computational tools used in modern biological research.
The session began with an audio-video interaction with Prof. Aghhsuman from the University of
Kalyani, who shared valuable insights into the growing importance of bioinformatics in scientific
advancements. Following this, two mentors conducted the main session, guiding students
through both theoretical concepts and hands-on activities.
The workshop created an engaging learning environment where students actively participated in
discussions and demonstrations. The mentors were approachable and patient, ensuring that
complex topics were explained clearly. By combining lectures with practical training, the program
successfully introduced students to the evolving landscape of bioinformatics, from its historical
development to its current role in the omics era.
Key highlights of the introduction:
 Orientation session with an expert to set the academic tone of the workshop.
 Overview of bioinformatics and its relevance in biotechnology and computational biology.
 An interactive learning atmosphere encourages student participation
