Upgrading Life Support Skills

Upgrading Life Support Skills Institute of Nursing Indian Red Cross Society 17-06-2026

The Institute of Nursing, Brainware University, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, organized the “Upgrading Life Support Skills” programme on 17th June 2026 for skill development students. The programme aimed to refresh and strengthen participants’ basic life support knowledge and improve their practical skills in responding to sudden cardiac and respiratory emergencies. The session included an introductory briefing, step-by-step demonstrations, hands-on practice, and interactive discussions focusing on hands-only chest compressions, appropriate bystander response during choking or unconsciousness, maintaining rescuer effectiveness, and effective coordination with emergency medical services.

The programme successfully enhanced the emergency preparedness and confidence of the participating students, enabling them to respond more effectively during critical situations. The initiative promoted practical health education and encouraged participants to overcome hesitation while assisting during public emergencies. It aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting accessible life-saving skills and emergency awareness, and SDG 4: Quality Education through practical, experiential learning. Overall, the programme contributed towards building a more prepared and responsive community of potential first responders.
