Observance of 14th August as a Day of Remembrance of the Partition of Bengal and its Tragic Consequences Law 14.08.2026
Brainware University observed Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on 14 August 2026 at the Moot Court, Rammohan Bhavan, to commemorate the Partition of West Bengal and remember the suffering, displacement, loss, and hardships experienced by affected communities. The programme provided students and members of the university community with an opportunity to reflect on the historical and human consequences of Partition while emphasising the values of peace, communal harmony, tolerance, empathy, and social responsibility. Through a visual and commemorative presentation, students engaged with this significant chapter of Bengal and Indian history from a human and social perspective and gained a deeper appreciation of the importance of preserving historical memory. The observance encouraged critical reflection on the need for social cohesion and responsible citizenship while helping students understand the experiences and resilience of those affected by Partition. Aligned with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), the programme reinforced the importance of learning from the past and fostering a peaceful, inclusive, and harmonious society.
