The Institute of Nursing, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, organized the “Noncommunicable Disease Awareness for Skills Faculties” programme on 23rd June 2026. The programme aimed to enhance the health literacy of faculty members regarding the prevention and management of common noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). The session focused on identifying major risk factors associated with lifestyle-related disorders, the importance of balanced nutrition and physical activity, early warning signs of hypertension and diabetes, and the significance of regular health screenings. The programme included an inauguration, briefing, step-by-step demonstrations, interactive discussions, hands-on activities, Q&A, and a vote of thanks.

The programme successfully enhanced participants’ awareness of preventive healthcare and encouraged the adoption of healthier lifestyle practices. The discussions also emphasized the role of educators in promoting a healthy and supportive environment within academic institutions. The initiative aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting preventive measures against chronic diseases and supported SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening health literacy among educators. Overall, the programme contributed to creating greater awareness of NCD prevention and fostering a culture of health and well-being within the university community.
