Motion Masters at Bengal Rowing Club

Motion Masters at Bengal Rowing Club Allied Health Sciences IRIS Hospital 09-06-2026 to 13-06-2026

The Department of Allied Health Sciences, in collaboration with IRIS Hospitals, organized the “Motion Masters” Community Outreach Programme at the Bengal Rowing Club to promote fitness, injury prevention, player safety, and overall well-being through professional physiotherapy support. Considering the physical demands of competitive rowing, on-field physiotherapy services were provided throughout the sporting event. Two final-year physiotherapy students participated as volunteers under the supervision of a qualified physiotherapist, gaining practical exposure to sports injury assessment, injury prevention, emergency care, and event-based physiotherapy services. The programme included structured warm-up sessions with dynamic stretching, mobility exercises, and sport-specific drills, along with immediate management of injuries such as muscle strains, cramps, ligament sprains, and minor impact injuries. Post-competition recovery sessions included cool-down exercises, static stretching, ice therapy, and soft-tissue techniques. A free health camp was also conducted, offering basic physiotherapy assessments, posture evaluation, injury-prevention guidance, and awareness regarding hydration, ergonomics, safe playing techniques, and physical fitness.

The initiative successfully promoted SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by emphasizing injury prevention, timely physiotherapy intervention, physical fitness, and preventive healthcare. It also contributed to SDG 4: Quality Education by providing participating physiotherapy students with valuable hands-on clinical exposure under professional supervision. The programme enhanced students’ clinical competencies, decision-making abilities, teamwork, and professional confidence while extending healthcare awareness to the wider community. Overall, Motion Masters highlighted the important role of physiotherapy in sports and community healthcare and strengthened the connection between academic learning, professional practice, and community engagement.
