The Department of Media Science and Journalism organised an International Webinar on “Photography and Restorative Justice: Bearing Witness Without Exploiting” on 19 July 2026, focusing on the ethical responsibilities of photographers while documenting violence, injustice, trauma, and vulnerable communities. The webinar explored the role of photography in documenting social injustice and contributing to restorative justice, while sensitising students towards responsible, empathetic, and dignified visual representation. Through expert discussions and real-world perspectives, participants gained insights into the challenges of documenting sensitive and traumatic experiences through visual media. The interactive session also provided students and faculty with an opportunity to engage with the speaker through questions and discussions, encouraging thoughtful and non-exploitative approaches to photographic storytelling.
