Industry visit to Barasat Cancer Hospital Allied Health Sciences 03-09-2025 to 15-10-2025
The visit was organised to provide MMLT students with practical exposure to oncology laboratory and diagnostic procedures and to enhance their understanding of cancer diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and laboratory support services. It also aimed to familiarise students with advanced instruments and technologies used in cancer research and patient care, bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world clinical laboratory practices, and create awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and the role of medical laboratory professionals in cancer management.
The visit provided students with firsthand experience of laboratory workflows and diagnostic techniques employed in cancer care. Participants developed a better understanding of the role of medical laboratory technologists in oncology settings and became familiar with modern diagnostic equipment and quality control practices used in cancer laboratories. The experience enhanced their practical knowledge, professional skills, and confidence in handling laboratory procedures while providing valuable insights into cancer awareness, research activities, and career opportunities in oncology-related healthcare services.
