Free Eye Screening Camp & Mental Health Awareness Allied Health Sciences 03/07/2026
The Department of Allied Health Sciences, Brainware University, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), organized a School Outreach Health Camp with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare and creating health awareness among school students. The initiative, aligned with SDG Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG Goal 4 (Quality Education), focused on basic health screening, health education, and the early identification of common health concerns among children and adolescents. The programme also aimed to promote awareness of healthy lifestyle practices, personal hygiene, nutrition, posture, and disease prevention while providing Allied Health Sciences students with valuable hands-on exposure to community-based healthcare under faculty supervision.
The outreach camp commenced with participant registration and demographic data collection, followed by systematic health assessments conducted by faculty members and students of the Department of Allied Health Sciences. The screening included measurement of height, weight, BMI, pulse rate, blood pressure, and other basic vital parameters. Physiotherapy assessment was also carried out through posture evaluation, musculoskeletal screening, and ergonomic guidance, while health education sessions focused on healthy lifestyle practices, personal hygiene, nutrition, and preventive healthcare. Students requiring further medical evaluation were appropriately referred to healthcare facilities. The camp was conducted efficiently with active participation from faculty members, student volunteers, school authorities, and the collaborating organization, and the beneficiaries responded positively and participated actively throughout the programme. Overall, the initiative strengthened community engagement while providing meaningful experiential learning opportunities for Allied Health Sciences students.
