Free Health Checkup Camp Allied Health Sciences The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Lion’s Club of Calcutta Circular 29.06.2026
The Department of Allied Health Sciences, Brainware University, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), organized a school outreach health camp with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare and creating awareness among school students. The initiative, aligned with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), focused on providing basic health screening, health education, and early identification of common health concerns among children and adolescents. The programme aimed to promote awareness regarding healthy lifestyle practices, personal hygiene, nutrition, posture, and the importance of timely medical consultation. It also provided Allied Health Sciences students with valuable hands-on community exposure under faculty supervision, strengthening the connection between academic learning and community healthcare practice.
The outreach camp commenced with the registration of participants and collection of demographic information, followed by systematic health assessments conducted by faculty members and student volunteers. Activities included general health assessment through measurement of height, weight, BMI, pulse rate, blood pressure, and other basic vital parameters. Health education and awareness sessions were conducted to address personal hygiene, nutrition, healthy lifestyle practices, and preventive healthcare. Physiotherapy assessment was also undertaken, including posture evaluation, musculoskeletal screening, and ergonomic guidance. Students requiring further medical attention were appropriately referred to healthcare facilities for consultation. The camp was conducted successfully with active participation from faculty members, student volunteers, school authorities, and collaborating organizations. The initiative provided meaningful health education and screening services to the beneficiaries while offering students practical experience in community-based healthcare and reinforcing the importance of preventive health practices.
