Nutrition Practice Food & Nutrition 20.08.2026 to 26.08.2026
The Department of Food & Nutrition organised an experiential learning visit to an Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Centre to provide students with practical exposure to community nutrition and public health practices. The visit enabled students to understand the functioning of the ICDS Centre and observe various services related to child growth monitoring, supplementary nutrition, maternal and child health, hygiene, and early childhood care and development. Students interacted with ICDS personnel to gain insights into community-based nutrition and health services, prevention of malnutrition, and nutrition education. They also recorded their observations and connected their field experiences with concepts learned in the classroom. The exposure visit helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world practice while enhancing students’ observation, communication, and professional skills and strengthening their understanding of community-based approaches to improving nutrition, health, and well-being.
