Brainware University organised an awareness programme on women’s rights and gender equality at Prafulla Bhavan, Room No. 405, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Coordinated by Dr. Sreerupa Sarkar and Dr. Debanjana Sen, the programme aimed to sensitise students to women’s constitutional rights, legal safeguards, gender-based discrimination, harassment, and violence. The session also emphasised the importance of mutual respect, equal opportunities, personal safety, and the role of institutional support mechanisms in protecting women’s rights. A total of 108 students and 7 faculty members participated in the programme.
The programme enhanced participants’ awareness of women’s rights, gender equality, and available legal protections. It encouraged students to challenge gender stereotypes and discriminatory practices while promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment. The initiative aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).
