Cultivating Success: Startup Sensitization with Mushroom Innovation Institution’s Innovation Council Food & Nutrition 26-08-2025
Brainware University, in collaboration with the Department of Food & Nutrition, the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), and with the support of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised an event titled “Cultivating Success: Startup Sensitization with Mushroom” to promote innovation and entrepreneurial awareness among students. The session featured expert guidance from Mr. Avijit Basu Roy, associated with Barnita Mushroom Farm & Training Centre, and focused on highlighting mushroom cultivation as a sustainable business opportunity. The programme aimed to sensitise students to entrepreneurship opportunities in mushroom cultivation, provide practical insights into innovative techniques and business prospects related to mushroom farming, and encourage them to explore startup opportunities in the food and nutrition sector. It also sought to foster self-reliance, innovation, and skill development while bridging academic learning with real-world entrepreneurial practices.
The session provided students with valuable exposure to the entrepreneurial potential of mushroom cultivation and its scope as a sustainable business model. Through expert interaction, students gained practical perspectives on mushroom farming, innovative approaches, and the possibilities of developing startups within the food and nutrition sector. The initiative encouraged students to think beyond conventional career pathways and develop an entrepreneurial mindset grounded in innovation, self-reliance, and practical skills. With the participation of 78 students and 10 volunteers, the programme contributed to strengthening students’ awareness of entrepreneurship and creating a meaningful connection between academic learning and real-world business practices.
