Civil Engineering Practices at Mitra Enterprise Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy Civil Engineering 22-08-2025
The Department of Civil Engineering, Brainware University, organised an industrial visit to Mitra Enterprise Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy, Duttapukur, on 22 August 2025, involving 30 Diploma in Civil Engineering students. The visit focused on providing practical exposure to the roof casting work of a G+1 building and familiarising students with reinforcement detailing, shuttering, formwork, concrete pouring, and curing techniques. Students observed reinforcement layout and formwork preparation, followed by a demonstration of concrete batching, placement, vibration, and levelling. The programme also included a technical session on mix design, quality control, curing methods, and site management, along with discussions on safety protocols and project documentation with practicing engineers. The visit was designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and field-level construction practices while enhancing students’ understanding of professional site management.
The industrial visit provided students with valuable firsthand exposure to real-world construction operations and enabled them to relate theoretical concepts to practical applications, particularly in reinforcement placement, formwork, concrete casting, quality control, and safety practices. Interaction with site engineers further enhanced their understanding of project execution, documentation, teamwork, and professional responsibilities in the construction industry. The experience strengthened students’ practical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in applying classroom learning to live construction scenarios. Certificates of Participation were distributed at the conclusion of the visit, acknowledging the students’ participation and learning experience.
