“Care Through Awareness: Outreach Activity” Institute of Nursing 08-07-2026
The Institute of Nursing, Brainware University, organised an outreach awareness programme titled “Care Through Awareness: Outreach Activity” on 8th July 2026 at the Paediatric OPD, SSKM Hospital, Kolkata, with the participation of 24 B.Sc. Nursing 6th Semester students. The programme focused on creating awareness among parents and caregivers about common childhood behavioural and developmental concerns, including habit disorders, temper tantrums, and speech disorders. Through an interactive health education session and role plays, the students highlighted the importance of early identification, timely intervention, positive parenting, and appropriate professional guidance. The role plays demonstrated practical approaches to managing common habit disorders such as thumb sucking, nail biting, and teeth grinding, handling temper tantrums through calmness, positive discipline and consistent boundaries, and identifying speech and language delays while emphasising the importance of speech therapy and parental involvement. The programme also provided parents and caregivers with an opportunity to clarify their concerns and understand appropriate home-based management strategies. Aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, the initiative emphasised the importance of parental awareness, emotional support, multidisciplinary care, and timely healthcare consultation in promoting the healthy physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of children.
