Seminar Report: Bridging Gender Equality and Water Security
An insightful seminar on “Bridging Gender Equality and Water Security: Entrepreneurial Pathways for Sustainable Development in India” was successfully organized at Brainware University. The session addressed the critical intersection of gender equity and water resource management, highlighting its relevance in sustainable development.
The program was hosted by Dr. Indrani Paul, who warmly welcomed the speaker and participants. The guest was felicitated by Dr. Sayantan Ghosh. Dr. Shouvik Saha played a key role in organizing and facilitating the seminar. A total of 83 students and 7 faculty members actively participated, making the event engaging and interactive.
The seminar aimed to provide an interdisciplinary understanding of gender equality and water security, emphasizing Sustainable Development Goals—particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). It also encouraged entrepreneurial thinking and raised awareness about innovative, gender-responsive solutions in water management.
The keynote session covered important themes such as gender roles in water accessibility, challenges in sanitation affecting marginalized communities, and successful case studies of inclusive water management. The speaker also highlighted entrepreneurial opportunities in areas like water treatment, wastewater reuse, and smart water monitoring, along with insights into startup development and policy support in India.
An interactive Q&A session allowed participants to engage deeply with the topic, fostering critical thinking and interest in sustainable innovation.
