AI FOR FREEDOM-INDIA’S INDEPENDENCE REIMAGINED Institutions Innovation Council Computer Science & Engineering – AI 14.08.2026
The CSE AI Department, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organised “AI for Freedom: India’s Independence Reimagined” on 14 August 2026 at Prafulla Bhavan, UB-3, Room 405. The interdisciplinary competition engaged 86 students in exploring the intersection of Indian history, Artificial Intelligence, and design thinking, with a focus on addressing challenges associated with India’s pre-1947 freedom struggle. The programme aimed to promote interdisciplinary learning while developing students’ research, innovation, creativity, critical thinking, presentation, communication, and design skills, along with encouraging responsible and ethical use of AI. The competition comprised two rounds, beginning with the submission of AI-based poster concepts addressing historical challenges through Google Forms, followed by a Grand Finale where shortlisted teams presented their projects and defended their ideas during a live Q&A session with the judges. Three teams were shortlisted and recognised with medals for their innovative contributions. Overall, the event successfully demonstrated how AI can be integrated with historical analysis and creative problem-solving, providing students with an engaging platform to develop technical, academic, and patriotic perspectives.
