A memorable meeting with former Indian footballer Mehtab Hossain: Life lessons, career prospects and more!
“One of the main reasons behind my homesickness is the Bengali language. I miss speaking in this language when I am abroad,” said former Indian footballer Mehtab Hossain while interacting with the students at a seminar on ‘Sports Law and Sports Management’.
It was really an exciting session for the students as they got to hear their favourite sports icon, who has donned the jersey of several prestigious football clubs, including East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. Hossain recalled various anecdotes from his sporting days and said, “Honesty is the best quality to succeed. Whatever job you pursue, it is very important to discharge your duties with honesty,” said the footballer-turned-coach. He also highlighted that those who are pursuing Sports Law and Sports Management have a bright career ahead because at present FIFA is also trying to tap this huge Indian market.
At the seminar, Mehtab Hossain was accompanied by Eminent Advocate of the High Court of Calcutta Sourav Ganguly. He was introduced as a ‘Good cricketer in the field of Law’. “Practice is a different ball game. It gives you immense pleasure when you address someone else’s problems.” Then he focused on the aspects that a Sports Lawyer has to deal with.
The esteemed guests also awarded certificates to the Law students who completed their ‘VAC on Sports Law’.
