Metal Minds 2026 – The IIM 80th Foundation Day Quiz Challenge was organized to commemorate
the 80th Foundation Day of the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM). The event aimed to engage
Diploma and B. Tech Mechanical Engineering students in an intellectually stimulating quiz focused
on metallurgy, materials science, manufacturing technologies, and sustainable engineering
practices. The quiz served as a platform to celebrate the legacy of IIM while encouraging students
to enhance their technical awareness, analytical thinking, and interest in the field of metals and
materials.
Objectives:
- To celebrate the 80th Foundation Day of the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) and promote
awareness about its contributions to the field of metallurgy and materials engineering. - To enhance the technical knowledge of Diploma and B.Tech Mechanical Engineering students
in the areas of metals, materials science, and manufacturing technologies. - To encourage analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and quick decision-making through
a competitive quiz format. - To create interest among students in metallurgy, materials innovation, and their industrial application
applications. - To promote teamwork, healthy competition, and active student engagement in technical
activities. - To inspire students to explore sustainable engineering practices aligned with global
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 9 and 12).
