Exposure Visit To Raj Bhavan, Kolkata Media Science and Journalism 21-02-2026
From Newsrooms to Raj Bhavan – Learning History Where It Was Made!
Not all classrooms have four walls.
Some have towering Corinthian pillars, whispering corridors, and stories etched into every arch.
This week, the students of the Department of Media Science and Journalism stepped beyond textbooks and into history at Lok Bhavan – the iconic former Raj Bhavan.
Once the seat of British power in Bengal, these halls have witnessed decisions that shaped pre-Independence India. As our budding journalists walked through its grand chambers, they weren’t just observing architecture – they were standing where narratives were drafted, power was negotiated, and history quietly unfolded.
From newsroom ethics to governance structures, the visit bridged theory with lived legacy. Every corridor echoed with a reminder: journalism is not just about reporting the present — it is about understanding the past that built it.
An afternoon of awe.
A lesson beyond lectures.
A memory carved in marble and mind.
