Bridging Academia and Industry: Processing, Quality Control, and Innovation at CALDERA- Industry Visit Biotechnology with Institution’s Innovation Council 14-03-2026



On 14th March 2026, students from B.Tech Biotechnology (Batch 2024) and B.Sc Biotechnology
(Batch 2025) of Brainware University, Barasat, Kolkata, participated in an industrial visit to Caldera
Brewery located in Topsia, Kolkata. The visit was organized as part of the academic curriculum to
provide students with practical exposure to industrial biotechnology and fermentation technology.
The session began at 11:00 a.m. and concluded at 3:00 p.m., during which students were
introduced to the large-scale processes involved in craft beer production. The visit provided an
opportunity for students to observe how biotechnology concepts are applied in the beverage
industry.
 To provide students with practical exposure to industrial fermentation processes used in
brewing.
 To help students understand the application of biotechnology concepts such as enzymatic
reactions, microbial fermentation, and temperature control in large-scale production.
 To familiarize students with industrial equipment, workflow, and quality control practices in a
commercial brewery.
