Dr. Suvro Chatterjee’s exciting session with Promises in ‘Space Biology’
With the soft-landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the South Pole of moon, the inscription of India’s name in golden letters in the history of space exploration became reality. This extraordinary achievement of ISRO has witnessed a rise in interest among the common people regarding space exploration.
In this regard, the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology organised a workshop on ‘Space Biology: Promises in Biotechnology through Ideation and Innovation’. Dr. Suvro Chatterjee, UGC-FRP Professor, Department of Biotechnology, University of Burdwan interacted with the students and amazed them with some marvelous demonstrations!
“Indians have made far-reaching progress in space technology but in space biology, we are still lagging behind,” he said. While interacting with the students, Dr. Chatterjee pointed out a certain fact that we tend to overlook. “Whatever we are doing, the main objective is to serve the humans. we must remember that at the centre, there are always humans,” he said.
Dr. Chatterjee raised an important question, “What is the backup for human civilisation?”
