Seminar on Gender Sensitivity by the Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology organized a seminar on “Gender Sensitivity” featuring Aritra Chatterjee, Clinical Psychologist, and Bonnya Kar, Academic Researcher and social worker.
Chatterjee discussed gender from multiple perspectives beyond the LGBTQ+ lens, emphasizing its links with class, caste, and belonging while clarifying the distinction between sex and gender. Kar shared personal experiences reflecting the complexities of gender identity and expression.
The session highlighted the spectrums of gender and sexuality, stressing the importance of a safe and inclusive campus environment. It was an insightful and thought-provoking experience for both students and faculty members.
