The International Faculty Development Programme, organised in collaboration with Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (UKDW), Yogyakarta, aimed to familiarise faculty members with emerging technologies and their applications in building intelligent, inclusive, and sustainable digital futures. The programme covered a diverse range of topics, including Edge AI and IoT, quantum computing, AI in semiconductor chip design, watermarking, FANET trust management, immersive technologies such as VR, AR and the metaverse, inclusive design for the elderly, multisensory digital tourism, digital cultural literacy, and sustainability-oriented technologies such as nanomaterials in photovoltaics. It also addressed AI applications in trading, deep neural networks, image processing, automated short answer grading, and explainable AI in education. Expert-led sessions from Brainware University and UKDW facilitated academic exchange and strengthened international collaboration between the two institutions.

The programme enhanced participants’ awareness of key trends and concepts in emerging technologies while encouraging the integration of accessibility, inclusion, sustainability, and ethical considerations into academic and technological practices. Faculty members gained insights that could support curriculum development, teaching practices, and future research directions, particularly in areas related to AI and explainable AI. The cross-institutional learning experience also provided opportunities for knowledge sharing with experts from both institutions, contributing to greater technical understanding, collaborative learning, and the application of emerging technologies in academic contexts.
