Training on Safe and Rational Use of Medicines-
A Drug Information Centre (DIC), a Brainware University initiative NSS Pharmaceutical Technology 09-07-2025
The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Brainware University, in collaboration with the Drug Information Centre (DIC) and NSS Unit, organised a training programme on “Safe and Rational Use of Medicines” to promote awareness among NSS volunteers regarding responsible and informed medication practices. The programme aimed to highlight the importance of rational drug use, the role of Drug Information Centres, and the need to empower individuals to make informed healthcare decisions. The event was attended by Prof. (Dr.) Anup Kumar Maity, Dean of Students’ Welfare, Mr. Madhav Bandyopadhyay, NSS Coordinator, and Mr. Suip Saha, Departmental NSS Coordinator. Dr. Prasenjit Mondal, Chairperson of the DIC, and Ms. Teasha Chakraborty conducted interactive sessions covering self-medication, dosage compliance, antibiotic resistance, and other aspects of medicine safety, while addressing participants’ queries through practical examples and discussions.
The programme enhanced the participants’ understanding of safe and rational medication practices and the significance of DICs in promoting responsible drug use. The NSS volunteers were encouraged to act as peer educators and disseminate awareness about appropriate medication practices within their communities. Overall, the initiative strengthened students’ knowledge of medicine safety and highlighted the importance of informed and responsible healthcare decisions.
