ACT FAST, SAVE LIVES THROUGH FIRST AID Nursing The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) 06.07.2026
The Institute of Nursing, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, organized an outreach programme titled “Act Fast, Save Lives Through First Aid” on 6 July 2026 at Satyendra Bhavan (Skill Building), Brainware University. The programme was aimed at creating awareness about the importance of timely and appropriate first aid during emergencies and equipping participants with basic first-aid knowledge and practical skills. It focused on promoting quick and appropriate responses during accidents and medical emergencies while building confidence among participants to provide immediate assistance before professional medical help arrives. The programme was attended by 58 internal participants, comprising Skill Students and B.Sc. Nursing II Semester students, and was aligned with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education) through its emphasis on emergency preparedness, health awareness, and practical skill-based learning.
The programme featured an interactive session on the fundamental principles of first aid, identification of common emergencies, and appropriate immediate interventions. Demonstrations and hands-on practice were conducted on basic first-aid techniques, including the management of minor injuries, bleeding, burns, fainting, and other emergency situations. Participants actively engaged in the demonstrations and practical activities, enabling them to develop greater confidence and preparedness in responding to emergencies. Overall, the programme successfully emphasized the importance of timely action and basic first-aid knowledge in potentially life-threatening situations, while providing participants with practical skills that can contribute to safer and more responsive communities.
