The Recovery Racquets @ Pickleball Tournament Allied Health Sciences 04-07-2026
The Department of Allied Health Sciences organized “The Recovery Racquets @ Pickleball Tournament” as a sports physiotherapy outreach activity at Sports Plex, Topsia, on 4 July 2026. Two students from the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) programme represented the department at the event. The initiative aimed to provide students with practical exposure to a sporting environment and strengthen their understanding of the role of physiotherapy in sports participation, injury prevention, and recovery. It also offered an opportunity to connect classroom-based theoretical learning with practical experience in a real-world sports setting.
During the tournament, the participating BPT students observed the sporting activities and gained practical insight into the physical demands, movement patterns, and requirements associated with pickleball. They interacted with participants and developed a better understanding of appropriate warm-up, mobility, recovery, hydration, and injury-prevention practices essential for safe sports participation. The experience also helped them appreciate the role of physiotherapy in supporting recreational and competitive athletes while strengthening their professional communication, teamwork, confidence, and practical skills. Overall, the activity served as a valuable experiential learning opportunity, enhancing the students’ understanding of sports physiotherapy and promoting practice-based, community-oriented learning.
