Healing Through First Aid

Healing Through First Aid Nursing The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) 19.06.2026

The Institute of Nursing, Brainware University, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, organized the “Healing Through First Aid” programme on 19th June 2026 for skill development students. The programme aimed to provide participants with essential knowledge of basic first aid, hygiene, and initial injury management. The session included an introductory briefing, step-by-step demonstrations, hands-on practice, interactive discussions, and skill validation, covering minor wound dressing, control of external bleeding, basic management of minor burns, and the safe use of readily available resources during emergencies. Participants were also encouraged to maintain a calm and rational approach while responding to unexpected injuries and were made aware of the importance of seeking professional medical assistance after providing initial first aid.

The programme successfully enhanced participants’ awareness, confidence, and preparedness to respond appropriately to minor injuries in everyday situations. By translating essential first-aid concepts into practical and accessible guidelines, the initiative helped reduce hesitation during emergencies and promoted a culture of safety and responsible response. The programme aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting safe injury management and community health awareness, and SDG 4: Quality Education through practical and experiential skill development. Overall, the session strengthened the participants’ ability to provide appropriate initial assistance while reinforcing the importance of timely professional healthcare.
