Career Opportunities in DRDO and ISRO Computer Science & Engineering 01-08-2026
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Brainware University, organized an online career guidance session titled “Career Perspective in Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO)” on 1 August 2026 via Google Meet for final-year B.Tech CSE students. The session was delivered by Dr. Anil Kumar Goswami, Former Scientist ‘F’/Additional Director, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, and Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Delhi. The programme was coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar and hosted by Ms. Ria Pyne.
The session offered students valuable insights into DRDO’s organisational structure, major technology clusters, research domains, and career opportunities. Dr. Goswami provided an overview of areas including Naval Systems, Aeronautical Systems, Armament & Combat Engineering, Missiles & Strategic Systems, Electronics & Communication Systems, Life Sciences, and Micro Electronic Devices, Computational Systems & Cyber Systems.
Through examples of technologies developed in the defence research ecosystem, including smart helmets, face recognition, night-to-day image conversion, and speech translation, students gained an understanding of how research and innovation translate into real-world applications. The session also focused on recruitment pathways, eligibility requirements, competitive examinations such as GATE, and the technical and professional competencies required for careers in DRDO and allied research organisations.
An interactive Q&A session allowed students to directly engage with Dr. Goswami and seek guidance on career opportunities, recruitment procedures, higher education, and examination preparation. The session concluded with a vote of thanks and guidance on further preparation for career opportunities in DRDO, ISRO, and other government research organisations.
The programme provided students with meaningful exposure to careers in defence research and development and helped them gain greater clarity about the skills, qualifications, and preparation required to pursue opportunities in this field.
