Hands-on Industry Insight: MSME Tool Room Exposure Program
The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Brainware University, organized a “Hands-on Industry Insight: MSME Tool Room Exposure Program” on 30th March 2026 at MSME Tool Room Kolkata from 10:00 A.M. to 05:00 P.M. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning among students.
A total of 52 UG and Diploma students participated in the industrial exposure visit. The program aimed to provide students with practical insights into incubation ecosystems, advanced manufacturing technologies, startup support systems, and innovation-driven industrial practices. Through this exposure, participants gained a better understanding of the process of transforming innovative ideas into viable products and startups.
During the visit, students observed the functioning of CNC machines and precision machining systems used in modern manufacturing industries. They were introduced to computer-aided design and manufacturing laboratories where advanced software tools are utilized for product design, 3D modeling, and tool development. Participants also explored the fabrication and design processes of moulds, dies, jigs, fixtures, and press tools.
The students further learned about specialized industrial equipment such as jig boring machines, jig grinding systems, vacuum heat treatment furnaces, and mold try-out press machines. Sessions on quality assurance and inspection techniques helped students understand the importance of maintaining industrial precision and standards.
The exposure program successfully bridged the gap between classroom learning and industrial application. It encouraged students to explore innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven career opportunities beyond conventional academic pathways. The event proved to be highly informative and beneficial in developing an entrepreneurial mindset and enhancing industry-oriented learning among students.
