Vertical Vitals at JBG’s Staircase Run

Vertical Vitals at JBG’s Staircase Run Allied Health Sciences 12-04-2026

The Department of Allied Health Sciences, Brainware University, in collaboration with IRIS Hospitals, successfully organized a community outreach program titled “Vertical Vitals” under the banner of “The Gait Keepers” during JBG’s Staircase Run at Hotel Westin, Rajarhat. The initiative provided physiotherapy support to athletes participating in the high-endurance vertical marathon.

Recognizing the physical demands of stair running, physiotherapy services focused on pre-run warm-up, on-site observation, post-run recovery support, fatigue management, muscle cramp prevention, and athlete safety. Two final-year physiotherapy students actively participated as volunteers under the supervision of a qualified physiotherapist, gaining valuable real-time clinical exposure.

The program successfully integrated academic learning with practical experience while highlighting the role of physiotherapy in endurance sports, injury prevention, recovery, and community health support.

Aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being and SDG 4: Quality Education, the initiative promoted athlete wellness, clinical skill development, and experiential learning in sports physiotherapy.
