“At one time, awareness campaigns on gender equality served a particular purpose. It is a fact that women in our society have faced various atrocities, from Sati to dowry. They have suffered the perils of early widowhood and till now face restrictions from several quarters,” said Hon’ble Chancellor Phalguni Mookhopadhyay while addressing the packed auditorium at a workshop on ‘Gender Equality: Unveiling Reality and Dispelling Misconceptions.’ He believed that both speakers would put in a balanced perspective with regard to gender equality.
