Future in Focus: Free Eye Checkup Camp Department of Allied Health Sciences 12-01-2026
The Department of Allied Health Sciences, in collaboration with Vivekananda Seva Trust & Prince Opticals, Barasat, successfully organized “Future in Focus: Free Eye Checkup Camp” on 12th January 2026 at Amtala Ground, beside Mahananda Mission Vidyalaya, Barasat, starting from 10:00 am onwards.
The camp that was organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda aimed to promote eye health awareness and provide free vision screening to the community, reinforcing the commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health & Well-being. The initiative witnessed active participation from the local community, who benefited from professional eye examinations and expert guidance on maintaining ocular health.
A key highlight of the event was the enthusiastic involvement of Optometry students, who gained valuable hands-on clinical exposure by assisting in vision assessment, preliminary screenings, and patient interaction under professional supervision. This experiential learning opportunity helped bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world healthcare practice.
