The Department of Biotechnology, Brainware University, organized the Youth Ideathon for Clean India on 2nd December 2025 to mark National Pollution Control Day. Coordinated by Dr. Sambit Datta and Dr. Anusuya Debnath, with support from Dr. Samrat Paul, the event engaged 37 undergraduate and postgraduate students in a day-long innovation challenge.
The Ideathon, aligned with the national e-YUVA program, encouraged participants to develop creative, sustainable, and biotechnology-driven solutions to environmental problems. Thirteen teams presented innovative ideas addressing waste management, pollution control, and sustainable urban practices.
Team SAAS won the Best Idea Award for “Silent Killer in the Sky: Air Pollution,” while Team Morphogen received the Best Feasible Project Award for their “Hybrid Bioceramic Capture Beads (HBCB).”
Aligned with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), the event promoted hands-on learning, problem-solving, and scientific creativity. It effectively nurtured students’ innovation skills while fostering awareness of sustainable environmental practices and biotechnology’s role in building a cleaner, healthier future.
