There is a connection between Rabindranath Tagore and Dr. Pratik Banerjee!
You must be wondering, what can link these two eminent personalities from two different eras and areas of interest!
Well, Tagore sent his eldest son Rathindranath Tagore to study Agriculture at the University of Ilinois and the latter obtained his BSc degree in Agriculture in 1909. Also, Tagore delivered seven lectures in this university and every year Tagore Festival is observed at the hall where he delivered his speeches.
Dr. Pratik Banerjee who is originally from Barasat, is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois. He was the resource person for the seminar on ‘Advanced Microbial Genomic Tools for Solving Food Safety and Public Health Challenges’ organised jointly by the departments of Biotechnology and Food & Nutrition.
What is a food safety challenge?
What is a public health challenge?
Dr. Banerjee started the session by throwing these two important questions to the students. In his speech, his expertise illuminated the realms of cutting-edge microbial genomics and its pivotal role in resolving food safety and public health challenges.
Dr. Banerjee’s knowledge fostered a deeper understanding of the crucial intersections between Microbiology and Public Health.
