SDG 2: Zero Hunger | Metric 2.3 Student Hunger
Brainware University has established the Staff Food Security and Hunger Alleviation Policy to prevent and alleviate hunger among employees by facilitating access to affordable, adequate and nutritious food. The policy recognises food security as an important component of employee well-being, dignity, productivity and a supportive workplace environment. The policy applies to teaching and non-teaching staff, administrative and technical personnel, laboratory and library staff, maintenance and support staff, security and housekeeping personnel, and eligible contractual and outsourced employees, subject to applicable University rules and the availability of institutional resources. Key institutional interventions include access to reasonably priced meals, snacks and safe drinking water through campus cafeterias and authorised food-service facilities. Where resources permit, the University may facilitate subsidised meals, emergency food assistance, food packets, temporary meal support and food arrangements during extended working hours. Special provisions may also be considered for staff engaged in examinations, admissions, university events, workshops, seminars, accreditation activities, inspections, training programmes and other official duties requiring extended campus presence.
The policy upholds dignity, confidentiality and non-discrimination, ensuring that staff members are not discriminated against for seeking food assistance. Overall, it demonstrates Brainware University's commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), while also contributing to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
