SDG 2: Zero Hunger | Metric 2.3 Student Hunger
Brainware University has established the Student Food Security and Hunger Prevention Policy to identify, prevent and address food insecurity among students and ensure access to adequate, safe, nutritious and affordable food. The policy applies to enrolled undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, diploma and other eligible students, including day scholars and hostel residents, subject to assessed need and available institutional resources. The policy establishes a structured institutional mechanism to identify students experiencing hunger or food insecurity through confidential self-referrals, faculty and mentor referrals, welfare assessments and other appropriate channels. Its assistance mechanisms include emergency meals, food vouchers or meal coupons, essential food packages, access to campus dining facilities and referrals to approved community kitchens, food banks, NGOs or partner organisations. Students facing financial hardship may also be connected with institutional and government scholarships, fee concessions and other financial assistance schemes.
Overall, the policy demonstrates Brainware University's institutional commitment to student welfare, inclusive education and hunger prevention, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) by supporting students' access to food and reducing the risk that food insecurity may hinder their educational participation and academic progress.
