On occasion of the 156th birth anniversary of the youth icon of our country, Swami Vivekananda, Brainware University organized an Essay and Extempore competition on the 12th of January , 2019, at its Barasat campus from 12 in the afternoon to around 4 o’clock in the evening, conducted with the aim of distributing the ideas and ideals of the Swami Vivekananda among the youths studying in the University.
Philosophies, teachings and ideas of the Swami Vivekananda are the great cultural and traditional assets of India where he states that the youths are the most important part of the country who leads the country ahead, and that is why they should be inspired first by the ideas and ideals of the Swami Vivekananda. At the advent of the event the ceremonial lamp was lighted by the Honorable Vice Chancellor and the Registrar of the University. Before the commencement of the activities, Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Subrata Kumar Dey commented to the students about the ideals and ideologies of Swami Vivekananda and encouraged them to live their lives on these ideas of development and progression.
In the extempore competition Liza Rozarion of BCA section A, 1st sem bagged the 1st prize, whereas the participants of the essay competition wrote on the topic which echoed Vivekananda’s own ideals “A man is closer to Heaven playing football than sitting at home and reading the Geeta”.
The competition was a great success as the students with all their enthusiasm devoted themselves to these ideals. Along with academics, Brainware University has always considered this to be a responsibility to mold the students and help them develop in an all-encompassing manner.
