Pharmacy was introduced by Brainware University in 2018. The course got a huge response, and this year we are trying to improvise our syllabus for B.Pharm by involving Management education as a value addition along with their 4-years degree course.
In order to understand the necessity of Management education in our Undergraduate course, we invited some Pharma industry professionals to our University campus on June 13, 2019. The seminar was organised by the Pharmaceutical Technology Department of Brainware University. The delegates were from Hegde & Hegde Pharmaceutica LLP, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd., ESKAG Sanjibani Pvt. Ltd., Johnson & Johnson Pvt. Ltd. and also Sarva Gun Aushadhi Pvt. Ltd.
It was a brainstorming session where many vital points came up which would help our students to become industry ready. Rajarshi Laha (Sr. Area Manager) from Johnson & Johnson said, " Role and responsibilities of MR (Medical Representative) is an important subject to include during the course of study. Because, after graduation, many students tend to apply for this domain as it is a booming industry". When asked about certain areas which should be involved while teaching students, the panel advised four things – Communication skill, CRM, Team Management, and CEM (Customer Experience management).
The day concluded with a footnote from our Honourable Chancellor Mr. Phalguni Mookhopadhayay that students after passing out from the University should be industry ready. The University has decided to include a Diploma in management education as a value addition for the upcoming academic year. He proposed to the industry professionals to impart their experience among students and also give them a chance to work with them, to which they readily agreed.
